Volume 1
Natsu's team embarks on the **Quest of 100 Years**, a mission issued by the **Magia Dragon** guild on the northern continent of Guiltina. The guild master, **Elefseria** (a former human Dragon Slayer), orders them to submit the **Five Divine Dragons** (each rivaling Acnologia). The team travels to the city of **Ermina** in search of **Mercphobia**, the Water Dragon God, who is also hunted by a trio of Dragon Eaters from the **Diabolos** guild — **Kiria**, **Madmole**, **Skullion Raider** — who want to steal Mercphobia's magic by devouring him. Mercphobia appears in humanoid form and interrupts the fight, revealing that a centenarian sorceress, the **White Wizard**, has already stolen a large part of his power. He asks the team to retrieve it before he loses control. Fairy Tail recruits a new member, **Touka**, whom Jellal suspects is the White Wizard.
Volume 2
The Diabolos trio decides to target the White Wizard for the power of Mercphobia: they capture Natsu's team and injure Mercphobia. Lucy, Happy, and Carla escape and meet **Brandish μ** (who, like Lucy, is searching for the key to Aquarius on Guiltina). With her help, Fairy Tail forces Diabolos to retreat. Shortly after, Mercphobia loses control and transforms into a dragon, attacking Ermina and overwhelming the team. Jellal accuses Touka of being the White Wizard, but **Laxus** defends her. When Fairy Tail questions Touka, the White Wizard reveals she **possesses** Touka and attacks Jellal, before being suppressed by Touka (captured by Gajeel). During the interrogation, Touka explains that she joined Fairy Tail to get Wendy's help to separate the White Wizard. The White Wizard regains control and steals the magic of Fairy Tail and Jellal.
Volume 3
Natsu is rescued from Mercphobia by **Ignia**, the Dragon God of Fire and Igneel's biological son. To strengthen Natsu for a future confrontation, Ignia spreads his flames and incites him to eat them. The flames grant Natsu enough power to beat Mercphobia, but push him almost to rage until Lucy calms him. Mercphobia regains his reason and is drained of his power, fulfilling the mission's conditions. Out of gratitude, Mercphobia directs Fairy Tail to the city of **Drasil** to find **Aldoron**, the Dragon God of Wood. On the way, they visit a doppelgänger guild called **Fairy Nail** (Juvia's double encourages Gray to confess his feelings). In Drasil, the team finds Juvia (who escaped the White Wizard) and discovers that the city is built upon Aldoron's gigantic right hand.
Volume 4
Exploring Drasil, the team meets their companions and Jellal, who have been **brainwashed** by the White Wizard. To control Aldoron, the White Wizard sends the brainwashed mages to destroy the five orbs that maintain her power. Natsu's team splits up to protect the orbs, fighting several of their friends before Wendy normalizes them. On her right shoulder, Wendy finds several Fairy Tail members already incapacitated by **Nebaru** (Diabolos' Dragon Eater, whose members are also at Drasil to destroy the orbs and eat Aldoron). Kiria intervenes in a confrontation between Erza, Jellal, and Laxus over the left hand. Another Dragon Eater, the spirit **Wraith**, beats Natsu and steals his soul.
Volume 5
Natsu experiences a near-death encounter where he meets the deceased Zeref, Mavis, their sons August and Larcade, and Igneel. With their help, Natsu transforms his soul into a thought projection to fight Wraith (incorporeal). Wraith possesses Makarov to surpass Natsu, but abandons him and ascends to the afterlife, regaining his lost memories (he was a friend of Makarov at Fairy Tail). When Nebaru destroys the orb on the right shoulder, Natsu and Happy fly toward the orb on the back and meet Touka — who reveals herself to be an **Exceed possessed** by the human White Wizard, before she regains control. Lucy recruits **Cana** (drunk, not brainwashed) to seal their defeated friends in her cards. Erza captures Jellal and draws a draw with Laxus, which allows Kiria to destroy the orb on the left hand.
Volume 6
Happy helps Natsu escape from the White Wizard by immobilizing her with an orb she cannot touch. Nebaru ignores the order to retreat and activates Dragon Force, transforming into a dragon. Wendy, enchanting with Irene's residual power, accidentally awakens a **mental copy of Irene**, which brings Nebaru back to normal. **Mest** destroys the remaining orbs, but Aldoron voluntarily absorbs the villagers into his body and awakens at full power. The White Wizard (who realizes that **Selene**, the Dragon God of the Moon, tricked her about the orbs) loses control of the mages, allowing Wendy to separate her from Touka. To eliminate the mages, Aldoron causes a legion of **God Seeds** (Wolfen) to grow, which transform into figures from people's memories. Natsu traps a Wolfen to become Zeref and kills Aldoron with the curse, but the legion is replaced by three other God Seeds (**Metro**, **Gears**, **Doom**), and Natsu confronts the God Seed incarnation of Aldoron himself.
Volume 7
Aldoron is gradually weakened as the other God Seeds are destroyed: several minor members of Fairy Tail defeat **Doom** after receiving enchantments from Wendy; **Metro's** attempt to absorb Juvia's aqueous form backfires when Gray confesses his feelings and magically turns her into ice; Jellal overcomes the **Gears** (mental blocking power) with the help of Ultear's ghost, allowing him to accept his own feelings for Erza. Brandish (on a visit) briefly transforms Gajeel into a giant large enough to fight Aldoron's dragon form. Natsu gains the upper hand against Aldoron's fireproof body and destroys his avatar, killing Aldoron. For 3 days, the team celebrates their reunion with his friends in the neighboring city of **Dramil**, while waiting for Touka and the White Wizard to recover after their separation.
Volume 8
Touka and the White Wizard are revealed to be inhabitants of **Elentear**, a parallel world suffering from an excess of magic. The White Wizard teleports Touka onto the team, but accidentally (and herself) sends them to **Edolas**. Deprived of their magic, they find their acquaintances and doppelgangers from Edolas (Natsu and Gray had children with Lucy and Juvia, respectively) before Touka receives a replacement X-Ball from Mystogan, which restores her magic. Humbly, the White Wizard presents herself as an **imposter**: **Faris**, the guardian priestess of Elentear, whom Selene forced to chase the Five Divine Dragons under threat of Elentear's destruction. **Selene** appears and sends the team to Elentear, where they are separated by a giant hand from beneath the surface. Despite the amplification of their magic in this world, the team is defeated by Selene's minions, the **Moonlight Divinities**.
Volume 9
Keeping Natsu and Gray captive for his amusement, Selene sends them into the caves of her mountain lair to fight a horde of **yōkai**, including their own teammates transformed by Yoko (Moonlight Divinity). Aquarius self-invokes through Lucy's amplified magic, restores her memories, and tricks Wendy into canceling her own transformation, then does the same for the others. Selene sends Yoko to fight the team with her infinite yōkai, but Erza defeats Yoko and disperses the horde. The chief priestess of the village of Faris magically summons **Suzaku** (one of Diabolos' elite Dark Dragon Slayer Knights) to kill Selene. Suzaku crosses paths with Fairy Tail while fleeing, attacks to avenge his guild, and injures Natsu and Erza. Selene appears and duels Suzaku, while the other two Moonlight Divinities, **Hakune** and **Mimi**, pursue the team toward the village of Faris.
Volume 10
Lucy and Gray defeat Mimi and Hakune. Suzaku wounds Selene with the magic gained from his son **Kurunugi** (a dragon killed by Georg, the master of Diabolos). Natsu and Erza recover but fail to prevent Selene from fleeing to Elentear, with Suzaku pursuing her. Elentear is overwhelmed by the giant hands of **Alta Face** (an underground monster caused by Selene). The team destroys Alta Face, allowing Faris and her priestesses to defeat its hands. With Elentear saved, the mages forgive Faris and return to Earthland. Suzaku takes Selene captive to Georg, who she effortlessly kills after freeing herself—she had faked her defeat to avenge Kurunugi.
Volume 11
Selene becomes Diabolos's new mistress to recruit Suzaku and his colleagues, the Dark Dragon Slayer Knights — **Kirin**, **Haku**, **Misaki** — in the hunt for the other Divine Dragons. To do this, she sends them to retrieve the **second disembodied heart of Elefseria** in the **Great Dogra Labyrinth** (a dungeon made of the remains of **Dogramag**, a sixth Dragon God killed by Elefseria). Natsu's team visits Elefseria for more information. Selene pits the team, Gajeel, and Laxus against Diabolos's strongest members in a race for the heart. Wendy and Laxus duel **Haku** and **Kirin**, with Irene helping Wendy defeat Haku. Natsu, Erza, and Lucy face Suzaku, Misaki, and Kiria.
Volume 12
While Lucy and Erza fight Kiria and Misaki, the battle between Natsu and Suzaku is interrupted by the arrival of **Ignia** (who is also searching for the heart of Elefseria). Natsu and Suzaku form a truce and follow Ignia to the base of the labyrinth, where they see him destroy the heart and severely injure Selene in a duel. The destruction of the heart resurrects **Dogramag** (who had stored his life force there to simulate his death, in a joint plan with Ignia). Ignia allows Dogramag to kill everyone except Natsu, whom Dogramag challenges to a fight.
Volume 13
Laxus has a rematch with Kirin, discovering that his lacrima implant is the crystallized heart of the dragon whose soul is contained in Kirin's coffin. Embarrassed by the lacrima's resonance with the soul, Laxus removes his implant to defeat Kirin. Selene persuades Fairy Tail to help defeat Dogramag by destroying **magical hearts** scattered in the labyrinth (which make Dogramag invulnerable to attacks from Natsu and Suzaku). Gray and Gajeel prevent two hearts from being stolen by **Sai** and a **seemingly resurrected God Serena** from the alchemist guild **Gold Owl**. After the hearts are destroyed, Natsu executes a **Unison Raid** with Suzaku, killing Dogramag.
Volume 14
Fairy Tail and Diabolos escape the labyrinth collapse caused by Dogramag's death. The two guilds make peace, as does Elefseria with Selene (who is revealed to be mortally wounded by her duel with Ignia). **Irene** saves her by enchanting Selene's wound onto herself; with Selene's help, Irene reincarnates in Edolas as the newborn daughter of Mystogan and Erza Knightwalker. Before returning to Magnolia, Elefseria and Selene reveal the existence of **Athena**: a weapon created by Elefseria's student, capable of killing Ignia and the remaining Dragon God, **Viernes**. In Ishgal, the team and Jellal learn from **Sorano Agria** (Saber Tooth) that Athena is the mechanical White Wizard that Faris was pretending to be, and a member of **Gold Owl**. Natsu and his friends head to the city of **Firan** on Guiltina, where his friends are captured by the locals under Gold Owl's orders.
Volume 15
Natsu teams up with Saber Tooth to rescue his friends. Gray, Wendy, and **Rogue Cheney** meet **Duke Barbaroa**, master of Gold Owl and creator of Athena. He explains that he needs Dragon Slayer magic to perfect Athena, and steals Wendy's and Rogue's. **Minerva** saves Erza and Jellal, avoiding the powerful **Signario Sisters** (Luso and Ennie). Athena steals Natsu's and **Sting's** magic when they rescue Lucy and Happy with Yukino, revealing her desire to experience human emotions through Dragon Slayer magic. Lucy helps Athena realize that she can already feel, convincing her to return the stolen magic and negotiate a truce with Duke. But Duke judges Athena as defective and deletes her.
Volume 16
Elefseria safely transports the magicians and Athena to the Magia Dragon guild headquarters. Athena recovers and reveals that Gold Owl is a product of the disembodied will of **Viernes**, the current Duke being an artifact based on the true Duke (deceased). To defeat Viernes, they must separate his will from Gold Owl and use the mythical **Philosopher's Stone** to restore his physical form. The team, Jellal and Athena, return to Gold Owl to retrieve Wendy's magic but are drawn into a fight against members, including **Athena II** (a version without emotion imbued with Wendy's and Rogue's magic). Jellal destroys the fake God Serena and commits to joining Fairy Tail to clear his name. Saber Tooth seeks an alchemist capable of creating the Philosopher's Stone, meeting **Zalam** who directs them to a brilliant alchemist, **Iruha**.
Volume 17
Fairy Tail defeats the false Duke, Athena II, and the Signario Sisters, restoring all the stolen Dragon Slayer magic. Saber Tooth acquires the philosopher's stone from Zalam and Iruha—unaware that they are the same person and the real Duke, still alive. With the stone, Athena sacrifices herself as material to restore Viernes, whom Natsu destroys after Wendy imbues him with the magic of her friends. Gold Owl disappears, its members being artifacts created by Viernes; the only survivors are the Signario Sisters, who recover their memories as members of **Fire & Flame** (a group serving Ignia). Athena survives after her spirit miraculously enters the body of Athena II. With Ignia as the last Dragon God, Fairy Tail leaves Saber Tooth to search for his lair, the **Fire God Castle**.
Volume 18
Jellal parts ways with Ishgal after telling Erza his intention to join Fairy Tail. In a saloon, the team meets **Brian** (a fire eater from Fire & Flame), learning that it is a **dark guild of fire mages** led by Ignia. Brian captures Natsu with the help of his teammates, the illusionist **Lage** and the Fire Make **Rekka**. Erza is challenged by **Wed**, the second-in-command of Fire & Flame (a masked flame swordsman). Lage traps the rest of the team in illusory worlds populated by manga characters, but they escape when Happy and Carla break the illusions. Brian brings Natsu to the Fire God's Castle to meet Ignia, who reveals his plan to start a "real" **Dragon King Festival**. He invites Natsu to join Fire & Flame, which Natsu refuses. Their confrontation is interrupted by the arrival of a dark-skinned Faris, who introduces herself as the **Black Wizard** and declares her own participation in Ignia's festival.
Volume 19
The Black Wizard Faris is revealed to be the Earth-Land counterpart of Faris of Elentear, imbued with **Acnologia's severed left arm** and his powers. Ignia initiates his plan: using the roots created by Dogramag, he produces lacrima crystals on the lands of his Divine Dragon peers, resurrecting Aldoron and Viernes, driving the 4 dragons mad, and turning the citizens of Guiltina (including Fire & Flame) into humanoid dragons. **Elefseria** gathers the team at her guild, where they disperse to destroy the lacrima. In Ermina, **Brandish** helps Lucy destroy Mercphobia's lacrima (which contains the key to Aquarius); Brandish lets Lucy keep the key, reuniting Lucy and Aquarius. At the Fire God's Castle, Natsu fights Brian while **Happy** convinces another member of Fire & Flame, the fire cat **Misfortune**, to help Fairy Tail find Ignia (who left to pursue Faris). In the ruins of Drasil, Erza finds that Aldoron has apparently been killed and his lacrima destroyed by the **Oración Sechs**, Faris's demonic minions (including a **resurrected Zero**). The other 5 Seis arrive, accompanied by a sixth hooded figure.
Volume 20
**Oración Seis** (including **Merudy**, the hooded figure) fights the **Oración Sechs** (each wielding a powerful dark magic). Aldoron reappears alive and splits the clash into 6 one-on-one battles. Erza heads to Dramil, where Ignia and Faris clash amidst a battle between dragonized humans and those under Faris's control. **Wed** (dragonized) intercepts Erza and is exposed as Ignia's son with a human. Natsu's group finds Ignia, who ignores them and abandons his fight with Faris upon sensing an unknown power, allowing Faris to be transported to another dimension by **Bestia** (leader of Fire & Flame). At Ermina, Mercphobia gives Lucy a key to summon and use what remains of her magical power. In the ruins of Gold Owl, Gray finds Viernes's lacrima on the dragon's back before **Viernes** absorbs it into his body, taking human form. **Wendy** and Carla follow **Selene**, who arrives to fight Viernes, destroying the lacrima she had absorbed in the same manner.
Volume 21
Gray struggles against Viernes's ability to transmute his ice magic into gold through alchemy. With his **Devil Slayer** magic imbued with Wendy's Dragon Slayer magic, Gray produces ice that bypasses Viernes's alchemy and incapacitates the dragon, allowing Selene to destroy his lacrima. Selene transports the team to Dramil, where Wed is joined by Lage, Rekka, and the dragonized Signario Sisters. The two teams clash in a 5v5, with Selene facing Aldoron's God Seed. Oración Seis: **Erik** and **Sawyer** kill **Blade** and **Bird** (Sechs); **Richard**, **Sorano**, **Merudy**, and **Macbeth** are defeated by **Gaia**, **Daemon**, **Gate**, and **Zero** (Sechs). Members of Fairy Tail arrive: **Juvia** saves Merudy from Gate and defeats her; **Mirajane** and **Elfman Strauss** confront Daemon and Gaia; **Gajeel** engages Zero.
Volume 22
Natsu's team defeats Fire & Flame, reverting them to their human forms. **Elefseria** teleports the team to confront Ignia, who awakens the **Calamity Bloods**—5 of the 7 dragons that attacked Fiore during the Grand Magic Games, kept in stasis and reinforced by Dogramag—and casts the spell **Universe Omega** to spread dragonization across all of Guiltina. Faris escapes the dimension of **Bestia** to confront Aldoron, who is revealed to be the true source of the dragonization magic. Ignia immobilizes Natsu's friends to dragonize them and leaves Natsu trapped in the dimension of Bestia to witness the battle, in which Mirajane and Elfman defeat Daemon and Gaia. **Misfortune** finds **Laxus** separated from Gajeel's group and brings him to the dimension of Bestia to help Natsu. Natsu defeats Bestia after absorbing its flames, which he recognizes as the flames of **Igneel**, restored by Bestia from the residual magic of Natsu's first fight against Zeref. Unconscious, Natsu is brought out of the dimension by Laxus, who vows to deal with Aldoron.
Volume 23
After Gajeel kills Zero, Misfortune brings Laxus and Natsu to Aldoron's body, where Ignia and Faris resume their duel. Aldoron is about to complete Universe Omega until Natsu wakes up and uses Igneel's power to neutralize him, allowing Selene to defeat Aldoron's God Seed and reverse Fairy Tail's dragonization. Natsu joins the fight between Ignia and Faris, where Faris tries to possess Ignia after he devours her. Ignia resists and fuses with her, gaining a new form, **Black Flame Dragon**. Accompanied by Faris's spirit, Ignia beats Natsu and leaves him for dead. Aldoron, mortally wounded, spreads his magic combined with Dogramag's magic onto Guiltina, creating dragons from the earth and separating Natsu's allies. The scattered mages are confronted by the humanoid **Calamity Bloods**: Erza against **Motherglare** and its range of mini-dragons; Gray and Juvia against **Anchor** (who turns them into water); Lucy and Wendy trapped by **Earth Build** while trying to revive Natsu.
Volume 24
Gray and Juvia are returned to normal by Juvia's water magic, which Gray amplifies with his ice to freeze Anchor. Natsu wakes up with a split personality, quickly revealed to be **Igneel**, who lends his power to Natsu to defeat Earth Build. Natsu goes to confront Ignia, who begins to create an **artificial sun** to destroy Guiltina. The **Calamity Bloods** take their dragon form and counterattack, except for **Levia** (who flies and imprisons Laxus's soul). Selene helps Lucy against Earth Build and **Wed** (vindictive), extinguishing Wed's flames with a jet of water that Lucy uses to summon **Mercphobia**. The two Divine Dragons grant Lucy their power, enough to beat Wed but not Earth Build. On Selene's instructions, Wendy reaches the **underground heart of Aldoron** to enchant his scattered allies with Dragon Slayer magic, unaware that **Aldoron's God Seed** (still alive) is nearby.
