Natsu experiences a near-death encounter where he meets the deceased Zeref, Mavis, their sons August and Larcade, and Igneel. With their help, Natsu transforms his soul into a thought projection to fight Wraith (incorporeal). Wraith possesses Makarov to surpass Natsu, but abandons him and ascends to the afterlife, regaining his lost memories (he was a friend of Makarov at Fairy Tail). When Nebaru destroys the orb on the right shoulder, Natsu and Happy fly toward the orb on the back and meet Touka — who reveals herself to be an Exceed possessed by the human White Wizard, before she regains control. Lucy recruits Cana (drunk, not brainwashed) to seal their defeated friends in her cards. Erza captures Jellal and draws a draw with Laxus, which allows Kiria to destroy the orb on the left hand.
