Overview
Mass Effect combines RPG mechanics with a science-fiction universe built around the species, alliances and political tensions that span the galaxy. Commander Shepard does not progress alone: the members of the crew, their stories and the relationships developed with them play an essential role in an adventure where the player's decisions can alter the way certain events unfold.
Mass Effect 2 deepens this dimension in particular by making the recruitment and preparation of the crew a central part of the journey. Mass Effect 3 then takes the consequences accumulated throughout the trilogy and confronts them with a conflict on a galactic scale. The three games therefore form a continuous journey in which characters, alliances and choices can accompany the player from one game to the next.
Mass Effect: Andromeda ultimately leaves the Milky Way and Shepard's journey behind to follow a new expedition into the Andromeda galaxy. This shift changes the characters and the stakes, but retains several foundations of the series: discovering unknown worlds, building a crew and navigating between exploration, diplomacy and confrontation in a universe where every encounter can open a new direction.
