U2 is an Irish rock band formed in Dublin in the late 1970s around Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. Their music blends alternative rock, post-punk, pop rock and electronic influences, driven by Bono’s expressive vocals, The Edge’s distinctive guitar textures and lyrics exploring faith, human relationships, conflict and social and political issues. With albums such as War, The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby, U2 became one of the most popular and influential rock bands of its generation.
