Korn is an American metal band formed in Bakersfield, California, in the early 1990s around Jonathan Davis, James “Munky” Shaffer, Brian “Head” Welch, Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu and David Silveria. The group developed a dark, heavy sound blending alternative metal, funk metal, hip-hop and dissonant textures, driven by heavily downtuned guitars and Jonathan Davis’ highly expressive vocals. With albums such as Korn, Life Is Peachy and Follow the Leader, Korn became one of the founding and most influential bands of nu metal.
