Dead Kennedys is an American punk rock band formed in San Francisco in the late 1970s around Jello Biafra, East Bay Ray, Klaus Flouride and D.H. Peligro. Their music blends hardcore punk, surf rock and garage rock, with a tense, abrasive sound and satirical lyrics focused on politics, consumerism, authoritarianism and the contradictions of American society. With albums such as Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables, Plastic Surgery Disasters and Frankenchrist, Dead Kennedys became one of the most influential bands in American hardcore punk.
