In Kathmandu, Japanese photographer Fukamachi believes he has found the camera of George Mallory, the British mountaineer who disappeared in 1924 while attempting to climb Everest. The discovery could finally answer one of mountaineering’s greatest mysteries: did Mallory and his companion reach the summit before they died? His investigation leads him to Joji Habu, a solitary climber obsessed with the mountains who vanished years earlier. As Fukamachi traces his past, he gradually uncovers the story of a man willing to sacrifice everything in order to push beyond his limits. Their intertwined quest becomes an exploration of ambition, solitude, and the irresistible fascination exerted by the world’s highest peaks.
