Cornered by Ajeel, the mages are saved by Laxus's arrival on the Christina (Blue Pegasus). Return to Ishgal, Makarov reclaims his master status. Makarov and Mavis explain: Lumen History = Mavis's crystal body, the source of Fairy Heart (infinite magical energy). Flashback: young Mavis meets Zeref and takes the same curse (immortality, life-draining). They fall in love. Zeref places her between life and death (his curse kills those he loves, but cannot kill an immortal). Fairy Heart must be used against Acnologia. Alvarez attacks, Ajeel is defeated.
