In the years before Hellboy’s major adventures, the young agent of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense takes part in his first field missions alongside Trevor Bruttenholm and other members of the B.P.R.D. Sent across the world, he investigates disappearances, occult phenomena, ancient creatures, and secret experiments connected to the tensions of the Cold War. Each case helps him better understand the supernatural forces operating in the shadows, as well as the unusual place he occupies among them. Blending espionage, folklore, strange science, and horror, the series explores Hellboy’s early development and the first years of his work with the B.P.R.D.
