Rancid is an American punk rock band formed in Berkeley, California, in the early 1990s around Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, later joined notably by Lars Frederiksen. Rooted in California’s punk and ska scenes, the band developed an energetic sound blending punk rock, ska, reggae and street-punk influences, driven by anthemic choruses and instantly recognizable vocals. With albums such as Let’s Go, ...And Out Come the Wolves and Life Won’t Wait, Rancid became one of the defining bands of the American punk revival of the 1990s.
