Pennywise is an American punk rock band formed in Hermosa Beach, California, in the late 1980s around Jim Lindberg, Fletcher Dragge, Jason Thirsk and Byron McMackin. Their music blends skate punk, hardcore punk and melodic punk, driven by fast rhythms, anthemic choruses and lyrics dealing with freedom, personal responsibility, society and self-improvement. With albums such as Pennywise, Unknown Road and Full Circle, the band became one of the defining acts of 1990s California punk.
