No Use for a Name was an American punk rock band formed in San Jose, California, in the late 1980s, notably around Tony Sly. Their music blended skate punk, melodic punk and pop punk, with fast rhythms, strong melodies and lyrics that were often more introspective and personal than those of many bands in the scene. With albums such as Leche Con Carne, Making Friends and Hard Rock Bottom, No Use for a Name became one of the defining bands of California melodic punk in the 1990s and 2000s.
