Makarov tries to repel Grimoire Heart by fighting their master Hades (whom he recognizes as Precht Gaebolg, his predecessor in Fairy Tail's mastery). But he is completely defeated. The rest of Fairy Tail must face the forces of Grimoire Heart, whose Seven Kin reveal their guild's plan: to awaken Zeref's power to create a new world where only mages survive, with the rest of humanity annihilated. Natsu defeats Zancrow of the Seven Kin, but Mirajane and Lisanna are beaten by Azuma, Elfman, and Evergreen by Rustyrose. Ultear, the leader of the Seven Kin, discovers and captures the weakened Zeref.
