Natsu, Wendy, Happy, and Carla learn that the Fairy Tail guild of Edolas is being hunted by the Royal Army, commanded by Erza Nightwalker (Erza's doppelgänger). King Faust uses Anima to absorb the magic of Terre-Lande and transform it into lacrima to reconstitute Edolas's magical resources. The team cannot use their magic. They gain the support of their doppelgängers to reach the capital and find Lucy (Earth), who avoided absorption thanks to the Horologium spirit. Carla guides them to the castle, but leads them into Nightwalker's trap. Natsu, Lucy, and Wendy are detained. Happy and Carla are escorted to Extalia, a floating city and home of the Exceeds, revered in Edolas for their magical powers. Realizing their mission is to kill the dragon slayers, Happy escapes with Carla. Happy is taken in by his parents (unbeknownst to him). Lucy is sentenced to death. Happy and Carla regain their powers and save Lucy.
