Erza confronts Jellal at the summit but fails to stop him before Etherion fires. The attack is absorbed by the crystalline lacrima in the tower, sparing everyone: Jellal trapped the Council to provide enough energy to the tower and resurrect Zeref. While Natsu fights Jellal, Simon sacrifices himself to protect Erza from a fatal spell. Enraged, Natsu consumes the Etherion-infused lacrima and activates a superior form of Dragon Slayer, Dragon Force, which gives him enough power to defeat Jellal and destroy the tower. Erza tries to merge with the lacrima to stop the explosion, but Natsu saves her.
