In 1988, the year in which the Alchemist was published, Paulo Coelho and his wife, Chris, began a forty-day journey into the Mojave Desert, California. There they met Vahalla, the first of the Valkyries – the mysterious bunch of women crisscrossing the desert on horseback. Following his example, Paulo Coelho faced the demons of his past, sought his guardian angel and asked: Are we condemned to destroy what we love most? How, with love and will, can we change our destiny and that of our fellowmen? Captivating initiatory journey, The Valkyries is the story of a mystical and upsetting quest, that of a man who fights against doubt and fear, driven by the ardent desire to believe in a rebirth.
