On returning to the village, Thorgal found Aaricia, Louve and serenity; he now helps Jolan build his own home. One morning, an unknown ship wets off the port: Özurr, a warlike mercenary Varègue is back in the village after being banished for thirty years. He returns with a head high, rich and ready to pay the weirgild, the price of blood. Thorgal will be led to face the terrible Özurr during a ruthless duel, facing an opponent for whom all the low blows are allowed.
