At the beginning of the 1st century, Rome continues its expansion into Germania. Ermanamer, the son of a Cheruscan chief, is sent to Rome as a hostage, where he receives the name Arminius and grows up alongside Marcus, the son of legionary Titus Valerius Falco. Initially rivals, the two boys form a deep bond before their origins and duties gradually place them on opposing sides. As Arminius returns to his people and begins to challenge Roman domination, Marcus remains loyal to the Empire in which he was raised. Between military campaigns, political ambitions, passion, and betrayal, their friendship is tested by a conflict in which each must choose between his convictions, his family, and his loyalty.
