In a 1950s America populated by anthropomorphic animals, John Blacksad is a solitary private detective with a troubled past. Investigating murders, disappearances, and criminal cases, he repeatedly finds himself confronting corruption, racism, political tensions, and the violence running through society. Each investigation forces him to navigate between police officers, criminals, journalists, and powerful figures, while his sense of justice and his own personal wounds drive him to uncover the truth, even when it becomes dangerous.

Album 1
A detective cat, the snout cigarette, investigates the murder of his ex between hired killer snakes, bartender pig, rhinoceros bodyguards and police dog. Disney? Yes, a Disney drinking bourbon, smoking filterless, playing blues and preferring Marilyn to Minnie.
Album 2
With the other animals with immaculate peeling, they form the WASP company (W for White, AS for Anglo-Saxon, P for Protestant). All the other inhabitants, from the black pee to the brown-red fox, through the spotted cat and the brown deer, are nothing but rabid. And if the police are not able to maintain the order of the whites, the big arms of Arctic-Nation, the racist party, hooded and dressed in white robes, take care of it without any moods. They have the ropes and the crosses inflamed as it is necessary. In this atmosphere not cuddly, cuddly, Blacksad, the private detective cat, investigates the disappearance of a child of color. A true knot of vipers in which Blacksad plunges the legs and plays the vigilante prompt to scratch if necessary.
Album 3
Finance and morale at the bottom, Blacksad is in Las Vegas, thus keeping his promise made in Arctic Nation, where he works on behalf of a wealthy player. Yet, a series of unexpected encounters will shake his new life.
Album 4
In 1950s, New Orleans, where the Mardi Gras festival is in full swing. Thanks to Weekly, a jazz producer named Faust meets Blacksad. Faust asks him to take care of a case: one of his musicians, pianist Sebastian, has disappeared. He hasn't given a sign of life in months, endangering the private musical label of a star. Faust fears that Sebastian has, once too much, sank into drugs. His request is all the more pressing as Faust knows himself is suffering from cancer. John accepts the mission and gradually discovers that Faust hasn't told him everything. He sees that he is himself manipulated, but decides to find Sebastian to understand the reasons for his disappearance. He doesn't yet know that he will know his most trying investigation, in more than one respect.
Album 5
This fifth episode of Blacksad, Amarillo, opens in New Orleans: Weekly has to leave the city; he leaves John who prefers to stay there to look for work. Luckily, he meets a rich Texan who proposes to take his car home: a simple and well paid job! The detective accepts, but, in a gas station, he gets stolen the car by Chad Lowell and Abe Greenberg – two beatnik writers who are looking to join Amarillo, Texas. Soon, a quarrel between the two men, rivals, turns to drama: Chad, pushed to the end, shoots Abe who dies on the spot. Obliged to flee, Chad finds refuge in a circus. John starts to pursue him on the American roads of New Mexico, Colorado, Texas and Illinois.
Album 6
In charge of protecting the president of a mafia-infiltrated union in New York, John Blacksad will conduct an investigation that will prove particularly delicate and rich in surprises. The daily life of the workers in charge of the construction of the subway in the inner parts of the city, the underworld and the middle of the theatre, an absolute contrast between the shadow and the light, the world from below and the world from above embodied by the ambitious Solomon, master builder of New York.
Album 7
After and end of the diptych made with hands of masters by Juanjo Guarnido and Juan Diaz Canales! By investigating Solomon, the master builder of New York at the origin of the immense bridge under construction, Blacksad discovers that the empire of the falcon is built on a heap of corpses including Iris Allen, the theatre director, is not the first victim. Pied by Solomon, Weekly is then accused of the murder. A real race against the watch begins for Blacksad in order to gather the evidence innocent of his friend and allowing to bring down the architect while reconnecting with his love, Alma, whose role in this matter will be decisive.
