Introduction
Mina (미나), born Myoui Mina (名井南) on March 24, 1997, in San Antonio, Texas, United States, is a Japanese singer and dancer. Born to Japanese parents, she grew up in the Kobe area of Japan before entering the South Korean music industry. She is best known as a member of TWICE, a K-pop girl group formed by JYP Entertainment in 2015.
As one of the group's main dancers and vocalists, she is recognized for her graceful movements, choreographic precision and delicate performances. Her extensive classical ballet training strongly influences her stage style, characterized by fluidity and refined body control. She is also part of MISAMO, a Japanese trio alongside Momo and Sana.
Career
Mina began studying classical ballet at the age of three and continued for approximately eleven years. During her teenage years, she also discovered K-pop and developed an interest in modern choreography. Scouted by JYP Entertainment while shopping in Osaka, she successfully auditioned in Japan and entered the agency's training program in South Korea in January 2014.
In 2015, she participated in the survival show SIXTEEN, which led to the formation of TWICE. After a relatively short training period, she officially debuted with the group on October 20, 2015, with the mini-album The Story Begins. Her classical dance technique and understated yet expressive stage presence gradually became defining features of her artistic identity.
In July 2023, Mina joined Momo and Sana to form MISAMO, TWICE's first official subunit, which debuted in Japan with Masterpiece. The trio continued with HAUTE COUTURE in 2024 before releasing its first Japanese studio album, PLAY, in February 2026. The project includes Turning Tables, a solo track performed by Mina. She continues her musical and stage activities with TWICE alongside these projects.
