Introduction
Giselle (지젤), born Uchinaga Aeri (内永枝利) on October 30, 2000, in the Gangnam District of Seoul, is a Japanese singer and rapper. Born to a Japanese father and a South Korean mother, she grew up in Tokyo before entering the Korean music industry.
As a member of aespa, a K-pop girl group formed by SM Entertainment in 2020, she primarily serves as a rapper while also contributing vocals. Her fluency in Japanese, Korean and English, combined with her distinctive rap style and musical background, helps define her artistic identity.
Career
Giselle grew up in Japan, attending Tokyo International School and the International School of the Sacred Heart. Passionate about music from an early age, she spent several years singing in a choir, including as an alto, and also learned to play the guitar.
After successfully auditioning for SM Entertainment, she joined the agency and completed approximately eleven months of training, a relatively short period in the K-pop industry. She officially debuted with aespa on November 17, 2020, with the release of the single Black Mamba.
Within the group, Giselle has developed a vocal identity particularly associated with rap sections and multilingual performances. Her background in both Japan and South Korea also brings an intercultural dimension to aespa's international activities.
