Introduction

Momo (모모), born Hirai Momo (平井もも) on November 9, 1996, in Kyōtanabe, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, is a Japanese singer, dancer and rapper best known as a member of TWICE, a K-pop girl group formed by JYP Entertainment in 2015.

As the group's main dancer, she is recognized for her choreographic precision, flexibility and command of urban dance styles, particularly hip-hop. Her energy and ability to perform complex choreography have made her a prominent figure in TWICE's stage performances. She is also a member of MISAMO, a Japanese trio formed within the group.

Career

Passionate about dancing from childhood, Momo began training at the age of three alongside her older sister Hana. Discovered by JYP Entertainment through an online dance video, she successfully auditioned in 2012 and moved to South Korea to undergo intensive artistic training.

In 2015, she participated in the survival show SIXTEEN, created to form a new girl group. Although eliminated during the competition, she was eventually brought back by Park Jin-young in the finale, who considered her dancing abilities essential to the lineup. She officially debuted with TWICE on October 20, 2015, with the mini-album The Story Begins.

In July 2023, Momo joined Mina and Sana to form MISAMO, a trio primarily focused on the Japanese music market. Following Masterpiece (2023) and HAUTE COUTURE (2024), the unit released its first studio album, PLAY, in February 2026. The project includes Kitty, a solo song performed by Momo. She continues her international activities with TWICE alongside these projects.
