Sex Pistols was a British punk rock band formed in London in the mid-1970s around Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock, later replaced by Sid Vicious. Their music was built on raw, direct and provocative punk, driven by aggressive guitars, an anti-establishment attitude and lyrics attacking institutions, the monarchy and social conformity. With the album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols and songs such as Anarchy in the U.K. and God Save the Queen, the band became one of the most defining symbols in punk history.
