Beerus, the God of Destruction, dreams of a "Super Saiyan God" warrior and goes to find him. He challenges Goku, easily defeats him, and threatens to destroy Earth. Goku obtains the power of his Saiyan companions to become Super Saiyan God; the fight is inconclusive, and Beerus spares Earth. Whis (Beerus's mentor angel) begins training Goku and Vegeta, who surpass SSG by reaching Super Saiyan Blue. Beerus and his twin brother Champa (God of Destruction of Universe 6) decide to organize a tournament: the winning universe will take Earth from Universe 7 and gain access to the Super Dragon Balls (the original, planet-sized Dragon Balls, scattered across both universes). Goku is the first fighter from Universe 7; he defeats Botamo by ring out, then faces Frost.
