Goku uses the Kaiō-ken ×3 to multiply his energy but exhausts himself. Vegeta creates an artificial moon, transforms into an Oozaru (Great Ape), and tortures Goku. Gohan, Kuririn, and Yajirobe come to help, cutting Vegeta's tail (who reverts to human). Goku transfers the Genki-Dama (Spirit Bomb) to Kuririn, who launches it; Vegeta dodges, but Gohan sends it back. Vegeta survives, tries to kill the group, but Gohan (whose hidden Saiyan tail sprouts under the full moon) becomes an Oozaru and nearly kills Vegeta. His tail is cut in time by Yajirobe.
