Overview
Presentation
Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame is a modern reinterpretation of Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow & The Flame, originally released in 1993. This version preserves the broad outline of the original story while rebuilding the environments, visuals, controls and much of the combat system for mobile devices.
The story takes place after the events of Prince of Persia Classic. Just as the Prince believes Jaffar has been defeated, his enemy returns and uses magic to take his appearance. The real Prince is then driven from the palace and forced to leave Persia.
The adventure retains a side-scrolling platforming structure while using 3D characters and environments. The player travels through 14 levels spread across five environments, filled with platforms, dangerous passages, traps and combat encounters.
Movement preserves the historical foundations of the series. The Prince can run, jump, grab ledges and carefully make his way through areas where a poorly judged move can result in a fall or trigger a trap.
This version offers two control methods designed for touchscreens. Players can use a virtual joystick closer to a traditional control scheme or gesture-based controls that direct movement directly on the screen.
The combat system was significantly reworked compared with the 1993 game. The Prince can face multiple enemies, use different weapons and perform combos, with new variations unlocked as progression continues.
The environments are not exact reproductions of the original levels. Several areas, enemies and traps were reorganized to adapt progression to the new controls and this more action-oriented approach.
The game nevertheless preserves the identity of the earliest Prince of Persia era: linear progression, precise platforming, environmental hazards and combat encounters shape a journey that gradually reveals more about the hero's origins.

Conclusion
Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame revisits the story and foundations of the second historical entry while significantly rebuilding its gameplay for mobile devices.
Platforming remains at the center of the experience, but touchscreen controls, fully rebuilt environments and a more developed combat system make it more than a simple visual remaster.
This version therefore offers a new interpretation of the Prince's journey after his first confrontation with Jaffar while preserving the linear structure and acrobatic movement associated with the earliest games in the series.
Good to know
Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame was developed by Ubisoft Pune and published by Ubisoft.
The game was released on July 25, 2013 for iOS and Android.
It was designed specifically for smartphones and tablets, with controls adapted to touchscreens.
It is a new version of Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow & The Flame, originally released in 1993.
Unlike the original title, the official name of the 2013 version drops the number “2” and is simply Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame.
The game preserves the broad outline of the original story but changes several levels, enemies, traps and mechanics. It is therefore more than a simple visual enhancement.
This version is a single-player experience consisting of 14 levels across five major environments.
This entry focuses on the 2013 mobile version, not the original 1993 game, which should be treated as a separate work in the catalog.
