Synopsis

Forza Motorsport

Forza Motorsport places the player at the heart of circuit racing, without a traditional narrative campaign. Through the Builders Cup and later the Champions Cup, players discover cars from different categories, learn to master their behavior and adapt their performance before facing AI-controlled drivers or other players. Sprint races, endurance events, multiclass competitions and time trials form a progression focused on driving mastery and vehicle preparation.

Overview

Presentation

Forza Motorsport is a circuit racing game developed by Turn 10 Studios. Released in 2023 without a number in its title, it introduces a new generation of the Motorsport branch of the Forza series.

Unlike Forza Horizon, the experience is not built around an open world. It focuses on racing circuits, driving, vehicle preparation and different forms of competition.

The Builders Cup career mode is built around series dedicated to different categories of cars. Each championship alternates practice sessions and races, allowing players to gradually learn the behavior of the vehicle they are using.

The Challenge the Grid system allows players to choose their starting position before certain races. Starting farther back on the grid increases the risk but can also improve the rewards earned for a strong result.

The career was later expanded with the Champions Cup, which focuses more heavily on race cars and several disciplines inspired by real-world motorsport, ranging from one-make series to endurance racing.

The game now features more than 600 cars, including base vehicles, rewards and additional content. Road cars, GT machines, prototypes, single-seaters and historic models cover many generations of motorsport.

Vehicles can be modified through performance parts, mechanical tuning and preparation options. Since the progression system was reworked, parts are available from level 1 for each car and credits can be converted into points used to install upgrades.

The 30 available circuits offer different layouts and include both real-world tracks and original creations from the series. Bathurst, Spa-Francorchamps, Nürburgring Nordschleife, Suzuka, Le Mans, Laguna Seca and Fujimi Kaido are among the environments included.

Time of day and weather are fully dynamic. Track temperature, rain and the gradual build-up of rubber can alter grip during a session and also affect tire management.

Featured Multiplayer uses a structure inspired by race weekends, with practice sessions, scheduled events, tire and fuel strategies, as well as skill and safety ratings.

Rivals, Free Play, Private Multiplayer and Meetups complete the package with time trials, custom races, private events and spaces dedicated to community driving.

Conclusion

Forza Motorsport refocuses the series on motorsport competition and the gradual mastery of driving, combining detailed circuits, mechanical preparation and dynamic race conditions.

Builders Cup and Champions Cup structure the solo experience around very different automotive categories, while Rivals and Featured Multiplayer extend this approach through lap times and competition between players.

After more than twenty updates that significantly expanded its original content, the game still maintains its servers, events and online activities today, but active development of new cars, circuits and features has ended.

Good to know

Forza Motorsport is developed by Turn 10 Studios and published by Xbox Game Studios.

The game was released on October 10, 2023 for Xbox Series X|S and PC through the Microsoft Store and Steam.

It is also available through Xbox Game Pass and cloud gaming on compatible plans.

At launch, the game featured more than 500 cars and 20 circuits. Successive updates expanded the content to more than 600 cars and 30 circuits.

The Champions Cup, added in June 2025, is a free and permanent expansion of the career mode focused on race cars and competitive disciplines.

Vehicle progression was significantly reworked in 2024: all compatible parts are available from level 1, and credits can be exchanged for Car Points used to install upgrades.

Featured Multiplayer notably uses driver and safety ratings, Forza Race Regulations, as well as tire, fuel and pit-stop systems.

Weather, time of day, track temperature and evolving grip can change during races.

An internet connection remains required for progression in career modes linked to the online profile. An offline Free Play mode remains available with more limited functionality.

Since the end of 2025, Turn 10 no longer plans to add new cars, circuits or features, nor to release regular patches.

The servers remain active, however. Turn 10 continues to run certain events and competitions and gradually reintroduce previous Featured Tours and reward cars.

This entry focuses on Builders Cup, Champions Cup, the car collection, vehicle preparation, circuits, dynamic conditions and the main competitive modes, without detailing every car, circuit or update.
