Overview
Presentation
Dragon Ball Xenoverse is an action fighting game developed by Dimps. It revisits the major battles of Dragon Ball through a story built around time travel and the alteration of history.
The player does not simply control the franchise's established heroes: they create their own Time Patroller, recruited to fight alongside Trunks and correct events that have been changed.
Character creation allows players to choose from five groups: Earthling, Saiyan, Namekian, Majin or Frieza Race. Each choice affects certain characteristics of the fighter, while appearance, stats and techniques can also be customized.
Battles take place in large 3D arenas, with movement on the ground and in the air, physical attacks, throws, Ki blasts, special techniques and ultimate attacks.
Progression allows the avatar's attributes to be improved and new skills to be acquired. Learned techniques can then be combined to create a moveset suited to the player's preferred style.
The Master system also allows players to train under familiar Dragon Ball characters. The chosen master offers specific training and gradually teaches some of their techniques.
Toki Toki City serves as the main hub. Players can prepare missions, meet different characters, access activities and encounter other connected players. Bandai Namco originally announced a hub capable of bringing together more than 200 players.
The campaign revisits several iconic periods from Dragon Ball by placing the player's character directly into battles whose outcomes have been altered.
Parallel Quests provide additional scenarios and alternate conditions, with different objectives and rewards including equipment and techniques.
The game also introduces several characters created specifically for its story, including Mira, Towa and the Supreme Kai of Time, all directly connected to the temporal disturbances.

Conclusion
Dragon Ball Xenoverse builds its identity around one central idea: allowing players to enter the Dragon Ball universe with their own fighter instead of simply reliving events through the usual characters.
Character creation, masters and progression add RPG elements to arena combat, while the Time Patrol makes it possible to revisit the series' major confrontations through a deliberately disrupted timeline.
Toki Toki City connects these different elements by serving as a base for missions, progression and social online features.
