Accompanied by Shaniah Thorgal wanders begging across the country. It is only the shadow of himself, he has lost Aaricia and does not seem to recover from it. After more than a year to drag their wreck the couple meets Wargan who asks them to follow him, Thorgal would, after him, be the last child of the stars! He could also help him and Galathorn, the heir of the trone of Brek Zarith, to reconquer their good! But before that Thorgal will have to travel the land of shadows accompanied by Shaniah, in order to regain his minds and thus be able to help the two men.
