While he has once again prevented Blutch from deserting, Chesterfield decides that they will spend the night in a small town around the corner before returning to the camp. After dropping Blutch off at the village prison, Chesterfield goes to the hotel. He is apostropheted by an old alcoholic named Doc who asks him strange questions about Blutch. Soon, Chesterfield realizes that the old man knew his friend well.
