To the north of the Ardaigne, in the city of Destrion, a mad-furious man massacred all the occupants of a palace belonging to the powerful family of Tyre. The forceful one was finally arrested by the master of the place, Prince Bran of Tyre, but the latter also succumbed to his wounds. For the Inquisitor Master Sasmaël, it could be an investigation among so many others that have glittered his long life... yet this is not the case! The assassin is none other than his former mentor, the venerable and very intrusive Inquisitor Master Fendraël. For Sasmaël time is counted if he wants to clear his old companion and thus save the political future of the Inquisition. During the autopsy, he discovers that Fendraël was drugged, that his mind was corrupted. With the help of his elf Lotweën he will climb the trail of the true culprits up to Old-Forges, an industrial city in the heart of a trade of arms... a well-introduced order might well be a war with the Gonders.
