Granolah learns that Bardock showed mercy to Monaito, Granolah, and his mother 40 years ago, but that Elec killed his mother. Elec uses the Cerealian Dragon Balls to make his younger brother Gas the new strongest being in the universe. Since Granolah was no longer useful, Gas attacks him, along with Goku and Vegeta. Granolah eats Vegeta's last senzu bean and seems to dominate Gas (who refuses to use his new powers, then seems disadvantaged by his lack of experience). But on Elec's order, Gas transforms into 'unleashing his instincts' and enters a blind rage. Seeing Goku (the spitting image of Bardock, whom Gas fought 40 years ago), Gas regains his senses in his new form.
