Akira Fudo, a sensitive and reserved teenager, sees his life completely changed when his friend Ryo Asuka reveals that demons, ancient creatures capable of possessing humans, are about to return. In order to fight them, Akira agrees to willingly merge with one of them during a dangerous ritual. He manages to retain his human consciousness and becomes Devilman, a being with the power of a demon but the will to protect humanity. As the attacks intensify and fear spreads through society, Akira discovers that the greatest threat may not come from the demons alone, but also from the way humans react when confronted with the unknown.
