Discover the love story that gave birth to the world of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit! Thousands of years before Aragorn and Arwen, a man and an Elf attempt to experience a forbidden love and embark on the most formidable adventure in Middle-earth: taking back a treasure, the Silmaril, from the terrible god Morgoth. By crossing a thousand perils towards his fortress, the Elf Lúthien shows us that the greatest of Tolkien's heroes is a heroine. This volume contains 9 original color illustrations by Alan Lee, illustrator of The Lord of the Rings and The Children of Húrin.
