Synopsis

AION 2

Two hundred years after the events of AION, the world of Atreia remains shaped by the conflict between the Elyos and the Asmodians. Having become a Daeva, the player chooses a faction and begins a new journey in which world exploration, battles against powerful creatures and the war between the two peoples play a central role. Able to walk, swim and fly freely across Atreia, the player gradually develops their class and powers in order to face both the dangers of the world and the forces of the opposing faction.

Overview

Presentation

AION 2 is an MMORPG developed by NC and serves as the official sequel to AION. Its world is set around two hundred years after the original game, in a new version of Atreia still shaped by the conflict between the Elyos and the Asmodians.

The player creates their own character, chooses a faction and progresses toward becoming a Daeva, a winged warrior capable of exploring the world both on the ground and in the air.

Flight is one of the game's central mechanics. It is not limited to transportation: environments, exploration and certain battles make direct use of verticality and allow combat to take place in three dimensions.

AION 2 also allows players to swim and explore underwater, reinforcing a world structure designed around a high degree of freedom of movement.

Combat moves away from automation in favor of a manual real-time system. Positioning, dodging, timing and chaining skills play an important role, with hit detection designed to make encounters feel more direct.

The classes revisit the major roles of the first AION while modernizing how they work. These include fighters specialized in melee combat, tanking, ranged attacks, magic, summoning, healing and support.

Stigmas allow players to complement their class abilities and further adapt their character to their preferred playstyle.

PvE content plays a major role. The game offers numerous dungeons and instances, ranging from solo challenges to group activities and larger-scale raids.

Exploring the world also leads to events, bosses, fortresses and various activities that provide equipment and resources needed for progression.

Faction conflict remains central to AION's identity. The Abyss and various PvP activities allow players to take part in faction battles, organized encounters and large-scale warfare.

Character customization is also particularly extensive, with more than 200 creation parameters allowing players to fine-tune their appearance.

Conclusion

AION 2 brings back the elements that defined the first game — Daevas, wings, Elyos, Asmodians, the Abyss and specialized classes — while adapting them to a modern action-oriented MMORPG.

Flight becomes a much more important part of both exploration and combat, supported by a larger world and broader freedom of movement across land, air and underwater areas.

The game therefore aims to combine character progression, abundant PvE content and faction conflict in a world designed from the ground up around verticality.

Good to know

AION 2 is developed and published by NC.

The game uses Unreal Engine 5.

It was first released in South Korea and Taiwan on November 19, 2025, for PC and mobile.

The global version differs in this respect: it is designed exclusively for PC and distributed through Steam and PURPLE.

Its global early access began on September 30, 2026 for Founder's Pack owners.

The full global release is scheduled for October 5, 2026 in Europe, North America, South America and Japan.

The global version uses a free-to-play model with in-game purchases.

It notably supports text in French, English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Russian and Korean.

The eight core classes presented at launch are Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Ranger, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric and Chanter, each built around a distinct role and combat style.

Since its initial launch, AION 2 has also received numerous content updates. Chapter 1: Lands of Sand and Snow notably added a new close-range class, the Brawler, alongside new regions, dungeons and PvP content.

The game includes solo instances, group dungeons, raids, exploration activities and several forms of PvP, particularly around the Abyss and faction-based conflicts.

This entry focuses on the overall concept of AION 2, Atreia, factions, flight, classes, combat and the main PvE/PvP content, without detailing every dungeon, seasonal update or economic system.
