Failed on Earth, an alien takes the identity of Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle and settles in the small town of Patience. Capable of concealing his appearance, he uses his sense of observation to solve local investigations while seeking a way to return home. Yet his ties with the inhabitants make his departure increasingly difficult.
