It has been years since Alix set foot in Khorsabad, far too long. Alix, as in the past, has been taken prisoner. He is a local lord, Barzapharnès, who is sponsoring the abduction of the senator in order to provoke a new war with Rome and to find the mythical treasure of the city, of which, he thinks, Alix knows the hiding place.
