Django Reinhardt was a jazz guitarist and composer born in Belgium and active mainly in France, who became the founding figure of Gypsy jazz. In the 1930s, notably with the Quintette du Hot Club de France alongside Stéphane Grappelli, he developed a virtuosic style blending swing, improvisation and European influences, despite a left-hand injury that led him to create a highly personal technique. With pieces such as Minor Swing, Nuages and Djangology, Django Reinhardt profoundly influenced the history of jazz guitar and generations of musicians.
