A man was kidnapped by the Confederates in 1864. His name, Richard Gatling, engineer and especially inventor of the first real industrial war machine, the famous Gatling, ancestor of all modern machine guns. The young lieutenant Blueberry will therefore start to look for him in order to avoid the Southerners being able to develop this infernal but very real weapon that could change the fate of the United States.
