In an alternative America where the Civil War never truly ended, the country is divided between several rival nations while an ancient prophecy announces the approach of the Apocalypse. The Four Horsemen are supposed to gather the elements necessary for the end of the world, but one of them, Death, turned away from his mission after starting a family with Xiaolian, heir to the Confederacy. Convinced that his son is still alive, he sets out to find him while the other Horsemen continue their destructive work. Between political plots, religious fanaticism, wars and futuristic technologies, the destiny of an entire continent is played out around a prophecy that some want to fulfill and that others seek to break.
