The Pharcyde is an American hip-hop group formed in Los Angeles in the early 1990s around Imani, Slimkid3, Bootie Brown and Fatlip. Their music stands out for an offbeat, humorous and introspective style of alternative rap, driven by fluid flows, jazzy and funky production and an approach very different from the gangsta rap dominating the West Coast at the time. With albums such as Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde and Labcabincalifornia, along with tracks like Passin’ Me By and Runnin’, The Pharcyde became one of the most iconic groups in 1990s alternative hip-hop.
